Essay about girl interrupted review - 753 Words

One popular cultural myth about the mentally ill is the archetype of the quot;Sexy Crazy Girlquot;, which weve seen in movies, comic books, and music. Losing your grip with reality is not a glamorous subject, but thats not what you get from Girl, Interrupted. It is apparent that all the girls in the movie had some type of dysfunctional personality, and bad things happen to some of them, but it just did not seem realistic. First off, most of the patients prtrayed were young, which made the care facility look like a youth home rather than a mental institution. but only the main (well known) stars, (Jolie and Ryder) were focal piont. Farther in, however, we discover that Girl, Interrupted is more aptly described as being completely the opposite... Lisa really is probably more messed up than anyone else in the ward. Jolie has gotten plenty of acclaim for her performance here, but I was never really taken in. It seems shes playing nearly the same sexy-vixen shes played in a few other films already; just this time, shes in a t-shirt, and occasionally gets tied to a bed. Itd be interesting to see Jolie really stretch beyond her type; maybe in a Jane Austen movie or playing a nun. Overall, Girl, Interrupted feels like a movie that couldve been rawer, more intense, and more confrontational... ie, a lot less Hollywood. I found myself wondering what this adaptation of Kaysens book wouldve been like if it had been done on a shoestring budget with unknown young actresses and a fledgling director. Some Folks Call it a Sling Blade, the short film by Billy Bob Thornton that led to the film Sling Blade came to mind. Im also noticing that thats the 2nd time I referenced another film that is primarly about men, not women. Grievance Procedures For Employee Satisfaction - 902 Words

Workplace environments will inevitably have disagreements or disputes, but these should not be the norm. Labor contracts generally have a grievance procedure to provide an â€Å"orderly system whereby both employer and union determine whether some action violated the contract† (Dessler, 2015, p.476). Grievances may be a result of such things as â€Å"absenteeism, insubordination, plant rules, discipline, and dismissal† but other factors can contribute to frustration or a sense of unfair treatment within unionized and nonunionized employee groups (Dessler, 2015, p. 476). Grievance procedures contribute to employee satisfaction as well as, document a trail of activities and actions that may result in action on the part of the company. Grievances cost businesses time, money and loss of productivity, so it behooves employers and unions to have a clear understanding of the contract and the grievance procedures, in order to resolve disputes in a timely and orderly fashion. Grievance procedures differ from company to company and union to union. Grievance procedures may be as simple as a â€Å"two-step process or as complicated as six or more steps† (Dessler, 2015, p. 477). Introduction A significant majority of people consume such products as tea, coffee, chocolate bars, energy drinks, and other related products regularly. It is not a selected that some of them drink coffee and tea every day or even several times per day in order to obtain more energy, feel less tired, or focus on work projects and perform more efficiently. However, the point is that all these people consume the mentioned products that contain a strong stimulant of the central nervous system which is also known as caffeine. Body Paragraphs It is a well-known fact that caffeine is distinguished as a stimulant which is traditionally obtained from various plants, including their leaves, seeds, and many other parts. It increases attention to details, helps not to fall asleep, and be on alert when it is required. Therefore, people who work hard including drivers, office workers, and others, tend to consume caffeine products like tea and coffee. It is possible to take for example the average office worker who usually has limited time to meet deadlines. Every day, this person usually starts the morning with a cup of tea or coffee, having almost no time for breakfast. Throughout history, people believed in the positive effects of this stimulant. However, it is also important to remember that overconsumption of caffeine has a range of negative side effects that are serious enough as they are the reason that causes significant harm to human health in general. The negative side effects of caffeine consumption depend on the amount and frequency of caffeine consumption. Because of the fact that caffeine is a strong stimulator, it increases the heart rate, the frequency of urination, and stimulates the body to produce an increased amount of acids. If a person has a tendency to spend a lot of time at work and consumes many cups of tea or coffee per day, it is a high time to visit a doctor. Because a lot of individuals consume caffeine products over the norm, their body experiences considerable harm. The stimulator causes headaches, increases nervousness, causes insomnia, and even hallucinations. In some cases, caffeine causes depression, stomach diseases, and chronic insomnia. For sure, caffeine is dangerous and causes such effects only in particular cases; nonetheless, it is necessary to remember about them in order to avoid health problems.    Conclusion Throughout history, people tended to think that caffeine is a positive stimulator that increases the level of energy and causes positive changes in how the body processes in general. However, it is important to remember that coffee, tea, and some other products contain this stimulator in different amounts and it is necessary to consume them in a limited number.
